None of those women should have been having abortions anyway. They all had the CHOICE to do the right thing...let their innocent, faultltess baby live. They didn't have to do the stupid thing of having an abortion. Illegal or not

Their suffering was all their own choice.
This is not to say that I don't feel any sympathy for them, just that they made their own decisions.

If you aren't smart enough to not have a baby when you don't what one to bad. You can' just say,"Oh well...I guess I have to kill it before it's born...", that's wrong! You made your choice when you were with the boy and that's that.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Did you even bother to read any of those stories? Many of the women who had the abortions were married wives and mothers who could not afford an additional child and didn't want to place one in the already-crowded state institutions. Birth control was not available to most people back then. In fact, the Canadian government had outlawed its distribution. Those who were rich and had the money could obtain birth control secretly via their doctors, but most could not. Much like today, in fact. Those who have health insurance have access to more effective birth control methods like the Pill, implants and IUDs. While those without health insurance must rely on less expensive methods of birth control such as condoms, spermicides and sponges, which have a much higher failure rate.

First of all...who was that quote from? I can't see any replies but mine and yours on this thread. *confused*.

Secondly, I agree with that quote. IF YOU DON'T WANT A BABY...DON'T HAVE SEX! Married or not. It may come as a shock to some, but many people live successfully without ever having sex in their lives.

The quote was from MissCurlyCat, who obviously did not take the time to even visit the website.

IF YOU DON'T WANT A BABY...DON'T HAVE SEX! Married or not.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">So, let me get this right...sex outside of marriage is a sin AND sex within a marriage is also a sin if you don't want children? Sexual problems (including lack thereof) are one of the major causes of divorce. Are you saying that married couples who do not want children should never have married in the first place? Plenty of people marry for reasons other than having children. Why should they deny themselves the right to consumate their marriage?

Yes, married people have the right to have sex. But if God gives them a baby because of it...well, they need to be aware of that possibility and have a plan for it in case. They need to do something morally right...like keep and raise the child or give it up for adoption...if that were to happen. Not kill it because they don't want it.

I do want to point out that not all people who have sex have sex by choice. Many abortions are the result of rape. I don't believe that abortion is the right choice ever, but I do have the compassion to understand why people make that choice. From my perspective, however, many women don't really know the ramifications of abortion. I had a friend who was raped and ended up having an abortion, and the guilt combined with her out of control hormones landed her in a psych ward. Despite the numerous "informed consent" regulations, no one ever told her how she would be affected, and she has never fully recovered. She's not the only person I've ever met (I'm an active volunteer) who has had their life ruined by the impact of an abortion. I think that it is about time we worked as a society to help people genuinely understand their choices. We have created a society in which sex is so taboo that shame drives people to do things they would never do otherwise. We live in a world where there are years long waiting lists for babies to be adopted, people should not have to be so scared. If someone makes a mistake, it's not our job to condemn them, it's our job to help them make it right. Whatever bad choices people make, we need to understand those choices so that we can help other people not to make the same mistakes. We cannot say that we want to stop abortions unless we're also willing to stop condemning girls and women for getting pregnant, so many seek abortions out of shame and fear and that is OUR fault as members of society for not having compassion. None of us is perfect, and it is God who judges our sins. Those of us who are Christians should know better than to cast stones.

I have always said hate the sin and not the sinner. We should not condone the sin of having sex out of wedlock. I do not cast stones. I just say that having sex out of wedlock is bad. And it is! The Bible says so.

I think society has quite the opposite problem. We let people have sex right and left without condemning them as long as it's between two "consenting adults." That doesn't make it right for them to be having sex out of wedlock, either. Sex is not taboo enough! It is something that is supposed to be good and pure and only between married people.

Rape is a horrible, horrible thing, but it's not the baby's fault his or her father was a rapist. Killing him or her is like killing every child of every criminal simply because their father/mother was a criminal. It's not right.

Abortion is not right. Sex out of wedlock is not right. We cannot condone one to stop another. That won't stop anything. Sin will just be even more rampant that it is now.

First off, you clearly did not read my post. Nowhere in it did it ever say to let people have sex whenever the heck they want. When a sixteen year old girl finds out she's pregnant, the condemnation of people who will call her a bad person, a sinner and the shame of having the whole world know about her mistake is what drives her to get an abortion. If instead, she knew that someone would help her make the right decision so that she wouldn't make one decision worse with another. Sex should NOT ever be "taboo." There is no way we can help people make a good decision unless we're willing to openly discuss it. Do you really think if sex was just something that everyone talked about openly as a great part of marriage people would be anywhere near as attracted by the forbidden as they are now? With abortion it is the same. So someone made a mistake and got pregnant out of wedlock. Big deal, it's happened millions of time in human history. Sure, they shouldn't have done it, it was wrong, and there are consequences, but everyone makes mistakes, and we need to teach people, not just condemn them and make them feel ashamed. You cannot legislate morality and you absolutely cannot shame people into doing the right thing! You have to show what makes a decision good. You have to show that one bad decision, one sin, doesn't make you a bad person, all you have to do is your best to make the best of it. Maybe if people actually understood their decisions, they could do what's right. What you're advocating is that saying "it's wrong because the bible says so" is enough. It's not! You have to teach people about the consequences of their decisions. When a woman or girl is considering an abortion, she hears on one side "it's wrong, and if you do it, you're a murderer and a terrible person," and on the other side, "you can't have a baby, everyone will know you had sex, your friends and family will hate you, and this one little medical procedure can stop you from ruining your life." What if the first choice she heard was, "We care about you and your baby. We know how awful this must seem, but it's going to be ok. There are wonderful people who would love to love your baby. Doing a kind and generous thing for them and your baby makes you a hero, not a shameful horrible person." Carrying an unwanted baby to term should be NOBLE. We should be proud of women who make a mistake and then do their best to make it right. The only thing that will help people choose not to sin is teaching them why doing the right thing is good for them. But I suppose people will read into this what they want to as well. I should just stop.
